You better believe it! Progress Coffee and Lucky Rabbit teamed up to make the most over-caffeinated and tasty coffee drink known to man!!!
Our neighbors at Progress Coffee have become good friends of ours over the last year and the shop has turned into our little refuge when we are feeling drained from the day. It was only natural for us to say yes when Joshua, the owner, came to us with the idea of making a drink with our name on it. Joshua asked us what we wanted out of it and we replied, “We want it to be as powerful as crack in a glass”.

With that in mind we spent a few weeks working on different combinations of caffeinated beverages (the worst combo by far was Mexican Coke and Espresso). After various concoctions we finally settled on an iced mixture of espresso, Progress’ famous Iced Lighting, Toddy, whipped cream, and...of course...Carrots!!! What??? Yeah...I said it...I’m a rabbit and I need my carrots!!!

Now get over to Progress and get your day started with a little Rocket Fuel!!! Thanks so much to all of our peeps at Progress who brighten our day each time we go in there!!!

Your rabbit,

Ozzy

It has been a big week for Ozzy and the boys at Lucky Rabbit Films.
Amidst our preparation for The Lab, the short film we are shooting this weekend, we have moved into a new space in 501 Studios here in Austin and are loving it!

We have hung our shingle out and are official now. Come see us and our custom steel Lucky Rabbit Films sign hanging on East 5th St. next to Progress Coffee. If you are ever in the neighborhood, stop by, we love visitors!

Special thanks to Joe Marias for his EPIC craftsmanship of this truly awesome sign, and to Hightech Signs for finding a way to bolt 70 lbs of steel to the wall! See below for a nice photo sequence of the hanging of the sign shot by Hunter Holder ...

Our upcoming short film “The Lab” is cast and set to shoot on June 19th and 20th!!!
We could not be happier about getting back on set to shoot another narrative. Trask and myself wrote a script entitled “The Lab” based on a concept I pitched to the team awhile back. Trask came to me one day and said, “Can I start writing that?” and I could not say no. I am pretty excited about what the story has become after multiple edits and drafts. Here’s a brief synopsis…

THE LAB

Damon and Trevor, two lower class teenage boys, decide to spend an afternoon of boredom shooting roman candles at each other and running through the woods. When Trevor is forced to run from Damon in order to avoid being hit by a fireball, he stumbles across, what appears to be, an abandoned trailer home. Damon, the braver one of the two, decides to take a peek inside against Trevor’s will. When Damon gets inside he steps into, unbeknownst to himself, an active meth lab. Damon snoops around not knowing what lies behind a bedroom door and comes face to face with death proving that some things are better left alone.

That’s all I can give you for now!!! We are really excited to have our close friend David Eggerichs coming out to DP the film from Michigan and Ted Griffis onboard to edit. You can view David’s work HERE and Ted’s work HERE.

Looking Out For Eleanor

Lucky Rabbit Films is proud to announce the acquisition of the rights to the short story and screenplay “Looking Out For Eleanor”, written by Austin writer William Browning Spencer!! The short story is part of the collection written by Mr. Spencer in the “Return of Count Electric” series.
Looking out for Eleanor tells the blackly humorous saga of a social worker named Malcolm Blair who becomes obsessed with rescuing an attractive client, Eleanor Greer, from seedy army vet, Lou Willis. Malcolm follows them as they cut a bloody path through Texas and Oklahoma before discovering that it may not be Eleanor that needs rescuing after all.

The film is scheduled to start production in the fall of 2010 in and around the Austin area. We are very excited to work with William Spencer in making his amazing story come to life on the big screen. We have decided to shoot this film before “Torture the Artist”, which has been pushed back until Spring 2011.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding our first feature film!!

Follow the Rabbit,

Ozzy

It’s been well over a year since we completed our video with Blowing Trees for the song “Goblins” and we just got the news today that MTV accepted it for their video lineup!!!
The video is one of the pieces we are most proud of and it is an honor to have the same network that put “Beavis and Butthead” on the air accept our work. With nearly four years in the can for Lucky Rabbit, it is great to see our work progress and get onto a larger stage.

We would like to thank all of you for the continued support and love you have shown us. Without you we would not progress!

Two New Pieces!!!!

We’ve added two of our latest videos to our homepage for your enjoyment!!!
SIMS FOUNDATION P.S.A.

As we have already mentioned in our last two blogs, we were commissioned by the SIMS Foundation to put together a P.S.A to spread the word about their organization. Check it out on the home page and share it with your friends!!!

ART ALLIANCE

The Art Alliance is a legit organization in town that continues to bring cool art events to our city. Our pals at LookThinkMake called on us to assist in creating a 30 second spot to bring the Art Alliance’s motto to life ..."Together We Make”.

We all agreed that the best way to illustrate the motto was to bring a group of artist’s together to create one single piece of art. With that idea in mind, we placed a giant canvas in a vacant building downtown and invited 47 artists to come by throughout the day to add their personal touch to it. We shot over 2,500 still images and converted them into a time lapse which you can watch on the home page! Let us know what you think!!!

Thanks for all of your support and never forget that I would love to give you free stickers of myself at whoisozzy.com!!!

SIMS Foundation Video Premiere for Austin Music Awards during SXSW
As we mentioned in our blog last month, we were commissioned by the SIMS Foundation in Austin to produce a 5 minute PSA to premiere at the Austin Music Awards. We spent a couple weeks in February filming great locations around town, including the Continental Club, Austin Music Hall, Gibson Guitar Room, City Hall and the Long Center. Additionally, we had access to many notable Austinites related to the music scene: Mayor Lee Leffingwell, Margaret Moser, Peter Bay, Rose Reyes, Jody Denberg, Ian McLagan, and featured performances by Kat Edmondson and Nakia.

We are very excited with the footage and the quality of interviews for the piece. We just finished up the rough cut and the final version will be premiering at the Austin Music Awards during SXSW on March 20. It has been an amazing experience working with an organization like SIMS and they deserve all the recognition they get for their involvement with local musicians. It has also been a great experience for us at Lucky Rabbit to make these great connections and have our video shown in front of thousands of people at one of Austin’s most celebrated event.

On another note, we just came up with a concept for the Austin Art Alliance for a commercial spot to run before and during Art Week Austin in April. We are working with the great team at lookthinkmake to help market and conceptualize the project. It is another great project for us to display to the Austin community.

In the mean time, our feature documentary and feature narrative are still in the works and we will keep you updated with the process.

Don’t forget to request stickers from me and check out Whoisozzy.com!!

Lucky Rabbit Films 2010 Update

A New Year is Upon us and Lucky Rabbit Films Has A Slate Full of Exciting Projects!!
We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. Now that the chaos is over, it is time to get back to the real world and power through 2010! I wanted to give everyone an update on what we have in store for the year and what you can expect to see from the Studio.

We continue to polish up the screenplay for our feature “Torture the Artist” that has been adapted from the novel by Joey Goebel. The website will be launched very soon, so please stand by to get all the information you need on our first feature film. We couldn’t be more excited to start the financing, casting and scheduling process for principal photography this fall.

Additionally, we have been commissioned by the SIMS Foundation in Austin to do a PSA about their services. The SIMS foundation is a very prominent non-profit in Austin that provides access to and financial support for mental health and addiction recovery services for Austin-area musicians and their families. We are very pleased to announce that the video will premiere during SXSW at the Austin Music Awards in March.

Most of you are familiar with the documentary we did in 2007 about the 1st National Rwandan Cycling Team. We had to put it on hold for awhile, but we recently cut a new trailer and some upcoming meetings will determine when and where this amazing story will be played.

We are also working on a few local commercials and a series of 5 short films called “Ozzy Presents: the 5.” Be sure to keep checking up on us, as we will have a lot of cool content to follow.

Check out whoisozzy.com and don’t be afraid to send me an email (ozzy@luckyrabbitfilms.com) to request stickers. We continue to get huge support around the world and I could not be happier to see myself in all these great photos.

Keep making moves my friends!

Ozzy moved us into a new space and we couldn’t be happier!
The time has come for us to move out of our sweat shop and look legit. Last week we settled into our new place in the heart of Austin called 501 Studios. We couldn’t be happier with the location, because it fits us to a T and surrounds us with friendly neighbors who are creatives like ourselves.

The pictures below show you the space as it looks now, but stay tuned for some photos of the space once it comes to completion. Our good friend and bad ass artist Chase will be decking out the white walls with Ozzy inspired art that will make the space truly ours.
